    Hello Preschool Families,

Please check your emails for google classroom sign up information. Jason Kries, our AMAZING teck guy, has posted Distance Learning information on our HTS website. You will need to sign in with your students information that he sent to you. I have sent out our class code by email. We will transition to google classroom officaily next week. So we will go nice and easy until we all have a better handle on how it all works!

I will be practicing with assignments and posts this week to get the hang of it.

    Happy Tuesday!

Here is a link to a book: Going to the River read by BD class:

    https://youtu.be/QePfJkSkbYk

Here are two poems about rocks.

    Little Pebbles

    One little, two little,

    Three little pebbles.

    Four little, five little,

    Six little pebbles.

    Seven little, eight little,

    Nine little pebbles,

Ten pebbles rolling in the stream. (repeat)

    Lying on the beach.

    Hiding underground.

    Warming in the sun.

See if you can find the rhyming words in this one:

    Stepping Stones

    Stepping over stepping stones,

    One, two, three.

    Stepping over stepping stones,

    Come with me.

    The river's very fast,

    And the river's very wide,

We'll step across on stepping stones,

    And reach the other side.

Activity:   Find a variety of rocks and pick your favorite one. Use the rock report to learn more about your rock. rock report

Have a great day! Send me a picture of your favorite rock.

    Kind regards,

    Ms. Glass

    Hello Families,

Please check your emails for a preschool update and email me back! I want to be sure everyone is getting the updates and information.

Thank you for the responses already received, it really helps to hear what you think will help, I am also aware you may have no idea what you need yet.

Keep in touch and if ideas come to you later, please reach out.

    Here is book about rivers:

and a video with reasons to love rivers:

    https://youtu.be/gPmCo0riO5g

I went to the river with my daughters and found river rocks in different shapes:

Look for hearts, triangles, squares/rectangles in my pictures:

    heart river rocks

    triangle river rocks

    rectangle/square river rocks

I live very close to Frenchtown, which is a really great river town.

Make a plan to visit the river sometime soon.

Hope you have a fun day,

    Meredith Glass

    Happy Friday Preschool Families,

Ok everyone, we made it to FRIDAY!

I have learned way too much technology for one preschool teacher. I am spending more time outside this weekend to recover.

That being said I am excited about some of the things I found!

I have fallen down a few preschool rabbit holes looking for ideas for you and your child. Here is a great science site to explore:

    stevespanglerscience.com

Here is a rainbow related experiment with milk!!

    https://youtu.be/6T3C-0-Djas

I want to let you know that this is new for me and most of us and I am learning as fast as I can. I would post individual projects here for you to print, but many owners of the activities do not allow me to do that in a public format. I am new to posting and for now I will use links and do my best to credit the proper person or site. Some of the members of the TeacherspayTeachers site wlll only allow sharing to a classroom privately. TeacherspayTeachers is a great site to find preschool ideas, you can click Preschool and Free to limit your search.

I hope all of your family is doing well.

Keep sending me pictures of your work! I love seeing their sweet faces!

    Have a wonderful weekend,

    Meredith Glass

    Hello Preschool Families!

Here is a color song you can google:

What Color Are You Wearing/ Color Song/ The Kiboomers

I found a great book with colors here:uniteforliteracy.com

Look in the Earth and Sky selections for the book:

    Nature's Colors by Phoebe McGuffee

You will have to help your child turn the pages using the white arrow and you can click the English button just below the book to have the page read to you.

Take a walk in nature today!

Take a picture on your walk and send it to me!

You can look up Cosmic Kids Yoga: Here is a link to their mindfulness post:

I hope you are doing well and send you big colorful hugs!

    Take good care,

    Hello Preschool Families!

I hope you are all doing well!

I am sharing a song, a book, and an activity for you today.

During morning meeting we take turns singing about what each child is wearing. The child gets to choose what we sing about. First we clap it out...so it goes like this:

The song is sung to the tune Mary Had a Little Lamb.

Max chooses his shirt, it is gray, so we clap "gray shirt" two claps and sing and clap:

"Max is wearing a gray shirt (clap twice as you say gray shirt), a gray shirt, a gray shirt

Max is wearing a gray shirt, all day long."

Change the claps to match the syllables: "yellow pajamas"would be five claps

Your child may be able to help you sing it...they love hearing their name in a song!

Everyone in your family can take a turn!

To continue our rainbow theme here is a rainbow story: My Color is Rainbow (read by) Mollie Ahlers (you can google this if the link does not work)

    https://youtu.be/eZFtOQevF1Q

Here is a fun activity from iheartnaptime.net you can go directly to the site or follow the directions here:

I hope you have a great day!

Take good care of each other and enjoy naptime!

    Dear Preschool Families,

I know that the changes we are experiencing can be difficult for our little ones. I am available by email if you need to reach me.

We have been working on the theme of rainbows in class. We traced our names in glitter and glued the colored strips on in rainbow order:  red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple. They look great in our room:

    rainbows

You can google: Planting a Rainbow by Lois Ehlert Reading Rhino

Once you watch the book you and your child can find something that is each color of the rainbow. You can do this outside or inside. Your child can also paint or color a rainbow. You can email me a picture of their rainbow at mglas@hollandschool.org I would love to see their work.

These links will take you to a song about seasons and months of the year. We listen to them during morning meeting and your child should recognize the songs.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8Zjpl6fgYSY if it does not link google Seasons Song Have Fun Teaching

I will make posts throughout our time apart. Please feel free to update me on your child and also let me know if the links are not working.

    Be well and stay healthy.

    Warm regards,

    Meredith Glass
