Integrated PreSchool Program

  • Program

Holland Township School offers a district-sponsored integrated preschool program designed for children aged 3-5 years who reside in Holland Township. This multi-age program consists of general education children along with children with special needs learning together in the same classroom. Children have the opportunity to grow and develop with peers of varying abilities in the areas of social skills, play skills, language skills, motor skills, and early academic skills. A certified teacher along with a paraprofessional provide instruction using the High Scope Curriculum. High Scope Curriculum is a research-based program in which children learn through direct, hands-on experiences during play-based activities. Assessment is utilized to determine what is and is not working; to identify gaps in children’s experiences; and to provide valid, reliable indicators of student growth and achievement. This curriculum is designed for both general education students and students with special needs in multi-age groups. Placement in multi-age groups encourages children of various ages and abilities to progress at their own rate rather than according to age or grade-level expectations.
